WANRONG ZHU
Wanrong Zhu is a multimedia visual artist from China, currently based in London. Her artistic practice integrates fashion photography, VR, XR, 3D, AI, and performance to explore how intangible cultural heritage can shape future civilizations. Through multimedia and interactive formats, she traverses timelines and challenges the perceptual boundaries of virtual reality, guiding audiences into a world where technology, culture, and art are deeply intertwined.
In 2021, she was commissioned by Harper’s Bazaar Art to create the outdoor interactive art installation "Gedulah" in collaboration with Beijing United Family Hospital, focusing on healing through art. In 2023, she utilized XR technology to produce the metaverse fashion show "ERA KUANG" for Wuhan Fashion Week. In 2023, she was commissioned by Harper’s Bazaar Art to collaborate with Hong Kong billionaire businesswoman Pansy Ho on the Chinese intangible cultural heritage exhibition “Zhi Shang Sheng hua”, Her digital artwork "Screen Fence", created using thermal imaging technology, was featured in the opening exhibition of the Youth Space Museum in Chongqing in June 2023. Her work "Shadow Symphony" was selected as a Top 10 finalist for the 2024 SOLO AI '24 AWARD. Most recently, her multimedia immersive installation "Spirit Never Dies" was exhibited at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge on April 30, 2024.
