This group of works convey my special feelings of being an only child who grew up under China's one-child family planning policy in the 1980s and 1990s. Those feelings include the sense of oppression and incompleteness because only child shoulders more expectations and pressure while receiving more love from parents and families. Moreover, now China is encouraging childbirth to relieve the pressure of the ageing population and shortage of young labour force. The intersection and separation of these two backgrounds have triggered my fantasy of twin sisters and identity diversity. I used CG software to create a 3D virtual girl who looks exactly like me. In the process, my physical body seems to develop in another space and dimension, and my identity also flows, thus satisfying the emotional connection that I can't achieve in real life.
